The Call of the Wild is a novel by American author Jack London published in 1903. The story takes place in the extreme conditions of the Yukon during the 19th-century Klondike Gold Rush, where strong sled dogs were in high demand. After Buck, a domesticated dog, is snatched from a pastoral ranch in California, he is sold into a brutal life as a sled dog. The novella details Buck's struggle to adjust and survive the cruel treatment he receives from humans, other dogs, and nature. He eventually sheds the veneer of civilization altogether and instead relies on primordial instincts and the lessons he has learned to become a respected and feared leader in the wild. |

DeleteDo we need to reply here ? Cause there is another question which asks the same.
DeleteI predict that the story is set in a very cold place like Alaska. I think so because in the picture there is snow, the people are wearing warm jakets and the dogs have a thick winter coat. The main character is probably the dog on the picture, in the forground because it almost fills the whole page. The dog is most likely being a sled dog in the story, which you can see in the background of the picture. I think there is irony in the story because the two dogs in the forground don´t look very happy. And it might also be that the dogs were being made sled dogs against their will, or being set out to great danger in the wild nature. The dog might not be used to such conditions and get in even more danger. In places like that there might also be snow storms, strong winds or landslides, which can end in death.
